Why would the door ajar and interior light be staying on after the doors are closed on a 2001 Mazda B3000 pickup?

HeadlineAnswer: I am fighting a crooked mechanic Chestnut Auto in Colorado Springs, for padding. But in the midst of this, there is a switch in the drivers side door that can be replaced( price about 29$) It is located behind the door handle. That will fix the problem. Or may, I believe it can be the above opinion too.
