Why would the heating system in a 1996 VW Golf 2.0 GTi MK3 only blow hot air and not blow cold air what is required to fix this and how much will it cost?

the problem could and most likely is in the controls for the venting. It could be the switch, the lines that connect it. the cost will depend on what is the problem, so can't help with that part. hope it helps, duboff It wont hurt to check the heat flap it is located in the center of your dash down by your feet. on the drivers side there is a blue cable running down and towards the passenger side. i just put the ac in the full cold position and pushed the cable until the flap was totally closed. but in my opinion you may have a low pressure blockage i would take it to a local mechanic to have them check the pressure levels. if you run your ac with a blockage it could cause alot of problems and your lines may burst. hope this helps.
