When my Volvo broke an alternator drive belt the majority of the warning lights came on.
they cant you would have to go to the main control panel (fuse box) and you would have to replace the fuse
Used for Interior Lights and Instrument Panel Lights.
I have the same problem with my 1999. The tail lights as well as the interior instrument panel and the license plate lights are all not working.
Have you checked the fuse panel under the dashboard for the instrumentation fuse being good or bad?

In a 1997 Lincoln Continental : To the right of your headlight switch in the dash is a ( panel dim ) switch I believe if that is turned all the way up then the interior lights will come on

The dashboard lights on a 1997 Eagle Talon can be changed by reaching up into the dash to get to the bulbs. Another way is to remove the dashboard screws and remove the front of the instrument panel.
I reset my be removing the radio fuse from the fuse box to the left of the instrumentation panel, and then replacing it 3 hours later. It would then accept the code unique to my radio.
It is in the console near the parking break handle when it is pulled on, on the right side under a small access panel.
The left kick panel would be by the driver's left foot.
To replace the dashboard lights on the 1997 F-150, you will first need to remove the dash bezel and dash cover in order to access the lights. To remove the dash panel there are two screws directly above the display, take them out. The rest of the panel is held on by clips. The panel should pop right off with the exeption of the conectors for the lights, hatch pop and rear defrost located on the left side of the panel.
make sure your dimmer switch isn't turned all the way down. Then check the fuses next.
Mine was #17 in the fuse panel down by the passengers right foot. It was a blue 15 amp.

First would be to check the fuse, drivers side of the dash, small panel pops out. or check the 30amp fuse under the hood. could be fuse 28 there
It would have to be cut out.
