because it'll cut off the nutrients, and water supplys.
Plants get their food from the soil thru their roots.
The plant gets its water and nutrients by the roots. No roots = no water, no "food" = Death.
The plant would wilt and die as it would not be able to receive water from the roots. For this reason cut flowers are placed in water to extend their life. If a vascular plant is subjected to cut its phloem in the stem region (leaving its xylem tissue intact), this plant will die of starvation because transportation of water and menerals is done by xylem and phloem transports the prepared food material to different plant parts. In a situation where phloem is dis-connected to the roots, the food supply to the roots will be stopped. Thus roots in the absence of nourishment will not be able to absorb water and minerals and the plant will die ultimately.
Yes because it can't grow any more
Roots provide several crucial functions in a plant's life. They absorb water and mineral nutrients, anchor the plant to the ground, support the plant and store food. According to the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, roots determine the size, vigor and adaptability of a plant. Some nutrient-rich roots provide food for people and animals. Vigor is defined as strength and health.
Too much water would hurt the soil; therefore hurting the plant. So they'd just put the plant in new, dry soil.

It causes the cutting to begin growing roots, otherwise it would just wither and die like a cut flower in water.
"Bonsaiing" a plant is actually quite simple. To bonsai a plant, you would first need a plant. Next , you would find a pot that fits your desire. After finding a pot you like, you trim/prune the roots so they fit into the pot. After prunning, remember to thouroly water the plant. Afterwards, trim the branches of the tree so the proportion of the roots cut off is the same as the proportion of braches are cut off. So if I cut off a third of the roots, I would cut off a third of the branches. After the whole process, keep this plant in a shaded and humid environment. After a few weeks, the bonsai may be taken out and enjojed. NOTE: PLANT MAY DIE NOTE: DO NOT REPOT FOR ANOTHER YEAR
The roots will die out and it will become dead.
because you cut them off from the roots
it will die
It depends on how many you killed, but I would say probly
The roots are the parts that absorb nutrients and water from the soil, so if they are injured or diseased the plant will probably die - it depends on how many of the roots are damaged.
Yes.
W/o roots the plant would be unable to gather water and nutrients and would eventually die.It would not be able to absorb wate and mineral and eventually will die.Plant roots will grow back just give it time and water. Plants will try to survive and have the ability to do what god gave it to do. If to severe then it might not be able to be saved. Try this trick- sprinkle some rooting hormone around the roots or mix with some water and put around the roots. You might be surprised!
