I had the same problem, open the hood and take the guard off that covers the wiper motor,(to do this there are 3 clips holding it there, don't lose the clips), under that there is a cover on top of the wiper motor(it just snaps on and off,but be careful, it can break easily), put a cloth under the brass looking piece on top of the wiper motor, get a good cleaning spray and clean it, I used wd40(this helps lube it too)(I have heard of people using PAM to lube too )..Then remove the cloth and try your wipers, if it doesn't work , do it again,Take the keys out of the ignition before you reinstall the covers..DO NOT PUT YOUR HANDS OR ANYTHING ELSE NEAR IT WHEN IT IS MOVING!!!!!!
Did you try moving the wipers arms a notch or two so when they start they are not at the bottom of the windshield but rather an inch or so above the bottom edge of the windshield to make them sweep farther to the outside?
warm... NOT HOT. water pour it over and slowly peel the wipers up from one side to the other. then pull the wipers back( up?) so they are not in contact with windshield when not driving
The cowl is located under the bottom of your windshield and under the hood where your windshield wipers are.

When purchasing windshield wipers that work intermittently, they can be any windshield wipers that are the correct size. The ability to work intermittently is a wiring/fuse ordeal. This does not play a part in the selection of windshield wipers that you choose from.
there are small screws/ bolts in the windshield wiper cowl(grill) all along the cowl that need to be taken out, then you need to pull up on the bottom of the wipers to get them off.
