waterpumps leak on these quite often. that's the first place i would check. if you don't see any signs of coolant leaks from that area (check just below and to the left of the thermostat housing) have the system pressure tested. i believe also that head gaskets leak on these (V-6 models) check for a trail of dry coolant starting above the stat housing at the seam between the head and the block.

Answeralso I know on chevrolets atleast the ones I have owned you might want to check your heater coil it is probbly under your dash board near your glove box just something else to check

What would cause an intermittent 'chemical' smell from the ac on the recirculate mode?

Low antifreeze might cause an intermittent chemical smell from the A/C on the recirculate mode. The recirculate mode is a feature of some diesel engines so that all of the air cleaners can get blown out. Perhaps the dirt is causing the chemical smell.

What would cause the antifreeze to erode the head in a 1998 Toyota Tacoma?

You probably used the wrong type of antifreeze. You should use the type for aluminum heads.

Smell of antifreeze but radiator is full?

The smell of antifreeze is very strong and distinct, it does not take much of a leak to smell it. The radiator could still be full and have a small leak. I would check for antifreeze dripping onto the exhaust or on the engine block because when it is hot the smell is much more noticeable from the fumes.

What would cause an antifreeze smell while engine is running on 2003 dodge ram 1500 with no noticeable leaks and cannot smell from inside the cab?

If you smell antifreeze, there must be a leak somewhere. Have the cooling system pressure tested.

Why would the inside of your car smell like antifreeze?

It probably has a leak, possibly from the heater core.

Why would a Honda Passport's heater blow cold air and you smell antifreeze?

Probably - your head gasket is blown. Antifreeze will be coming out of the tail (exhaust) pipe.

What might cause smoke coming from a cars air vents?

Most of the time it is caused by a hole in the heater core, do you smell a sweet smell? The sweet smell would be the antifreeze.

If my 97 expedition is leaking coolant - how would I know. I am getting the antifreeze smell out the AC vents but can see no drips or liguid in the cab. Would the degas bottle be empty or not full.?

The "antifreeze smell out the AC vents" would mean only one thing, you have a small leak in the heater core.

Why does the ac smell like antifreeze in your 97 hombre?

Only reason would be that the heater core is leaking.

Why would you smell antifreeze and heater blow cold air?

heater core possibly plugged and leaking

Why would you smell antifreeze through your defrost?

Blown Heater Core - The heater fan blows past the heater core and if it has a hole in it your antifreeze ios being blown onto your windshield.

Will your car smell like antifreeze if your water pump is going?

Your car will not neccessarily smell like Antifreeze if your water pump is going, in my personal experience it sounds like your HEATER CORE is shot. That is what usually makes that smell, unless you spilled some on the engine. Also, if the water pump was going the car would run hot and/or overheat.
