Try adjusting the idle screw first to achieve 1000rpm, that should cure the rough idle, if not refer to this website http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1h/bl964h.htm A very common issue with Mazda's is the Idle Air Control Valve. Refer to this website to clean the part which typically solves the problem. BE VERY CAREFUL when removing the part.
