Why wouldn't the temp gauge work for a 98 Chevy Cavalier after the temp sensor was replaced?

Adding to that. On most GM engines, there are multiple (usually two) Temp Senders. One for the dash, the other for the computer. Its possible that just the one for the PCM (computer) was replaced.
