It could be a bad or wrong driver. Maybe your audio-video player is corrupt, or the video driver is corrupt. So get updated A\V drivers.
Or maybe you have corrupt or conflicting CODECs. You can download K-lite or another CODEC pack. Such packs tend to scan for conflicts and errors when they install, and they may prompt to remove conflicting packs.
