Another answer from our community:Jesus words in Matthew chapter 24 help us to get the answer to that question.

Notice in verse 9, speaking to his disciples he said,""Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name." There was a fullfillment of Jesus words in the first century on Christians living back then. But if you notice, Jesus also speaks of "the end," that is, the "last days." In verses 13 and 14 he says,"But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."

In verses 21 and 22 he tells of a "Great Tribulation." He says,"for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world's beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short."

In this "Great Tribulation," Jesus says that it would be so bad that "unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved." The Great Tribulation is still in our future, since the world has never seen days that terrible yet.

Also Jesus says at verses 29 and 30, "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in lamentation, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory..." Those words of Jesus have not yet been fullfilled. So this Great Tribulation is still in the future. Jesus says that "on account of the chosen ones, those days would be cut short." It is appearant that the "chosen ones" would be present to be affected by the tribulation. So yes, Christians will go through the Great Tribulation.

The 'Tribulation' is a theological invention of John Nelson Darby, founder of the Plymouth Brethren, in the nineteenth-century. The concept has evolved over a period of nearly two hundred years, but is still essentially the same as originally proposed by Darby.

Barbara R. Rossing (The Rapture Exposed) says that Darby's new teaching was that Christ would return twice, first in secret to "rapture" Christians out of the world and up to heaven, then a second time after seven years of global tribulation for non-believers, to establish a Jerusalem-based kingdom on earth. Thus, he said that Christians, true believers, will leave earth before the tribulation begins. Of course, even if these events do occur one day, they would only affect a tiny proportion of Christians since nearly all the Christians who have ever lived would have quietly lived their lives and passed away in the fullness of time, oblivious to any "Rapture".

The belief that Jesus will come again is not new, and Christians have always taught that Jesus will return to earth and that believers should live in anticipation of his second coming. Darby's new teaching was that Christ would return twice. The first return would be in secret, to "Rapture" his church out of the world and up to heaven. Christ would return a second time after seven years of global tribulation for non-believers, to establish a Jerusalem-based kingdom on earth. Darby's Rapture and Tribulation concepts have no genuine biblical support, and many mainstream churches regard the notion as heresy. When Jesus spoke to his disciples in Matthew 24, telling them that they would suffer 'tribulation', he was telling them of the suffering they would face, and how they, the disciples, would be delivered up to be killed (Matthew 24:9).

Rossing says that according to one critic, the these concepts had their origins with a young girl's vision. In 1830, in Port Glasgow, Scotland, fifteen-year-old Margaret MacDonald attended a healing service. There, she was said to have seen a vision of a two-stage return of Jesus Christ. The story of her vision was adopted and amplified by Darby. There is no good reason to believe there will ever be a Rapture or Tribulation, or that the events portrayed by Darby will ever occur. John Nelson Darby has sunk into obscurity, apart from his followers in the Plymouth Brethren, and so should his theology.

Where Will Christians Be During The Great Tribulation?

The book of Revelations is a particular kind of literature, called an apocalypse. This was a genre of literature in ancient times, just like we might have science fiction, or romance novels, or how-to books today. In the apocalypse genre, things that are written are symbols meant to stand for something else. It's a mistake to read Revelations as if everything in it will literally happen as written - it wasn't meant to be read that way. The Great Tribulation you're referring to is a symbol for some other event, so what you need to do is figure out what event the Great Tribulation stands for, then figure out where Christians will be at that time. Whatever it is, you can be sure God will take care of His people and protect them, but I wouldn't expect Christians to just be transported off somewhere safe. It's more likely God will work through world events like He normally does. -------------------------- Christians will still be here on earth during the 2nd 3 1/2 years (42 months - Rev:13) of the 7 year tribulation widely known as the "great tribulation".Many saints all over the world will be killed/martyred for their faith.Others will remain alive on earth to see Jesus's coming after the great tribulation.Apostate Christians will fall away from the worldwide body of Christ and take the mark of the beast at the beginning of the great tribulation as the New World Order (NWO) comes into power and persecutes the church.Just like Judas in Jesus's day.History always repeats - Ecclesiastes 1 : 9.As much as sin and wickedness increases during the 7 year tribulation, God's grace shown by signs and wonders done by his people all over the world will be even more. Those will be great times for the saints despite the enormous persecution against them. The Gospels and the book of Acts will be repeated in that 7 year period. After the 7 year period, the dead in Christ will be resurrected and the saints alive on earth at the time will be raptured as well to meet Jesus in mid air and go up to heaven for the bema seat judgment. Christians/saints will not be taken up (raptured) to heaven before the 7 year tribulation. There is no precedent for this in the bible.God's people have always had to go through trial to receive what God had promised. For example(type/shadow/parallel),the Israelites in the old testament had to go through the 40 year wilderness experience ( their tribulation) before entering the promised land. They did not circumvent the desert or go directly to their land of milk and honey.God used the 40 year wilderness trial to refine his people to trust in him alone to meet all their needs. The wicked and unbelieving Israelites were killed by the Lord in the desert.Only the believing and obedient Israelites entered the promised land.So shall it be for the church during the 7 year tribulation. The apostate christians will fall away (the great falling away) at the start of the great tribulation (2nd 3 1/2 years of the 7 year tribulation) just like the unbelieving Israelites in the desert.Or like Judas in Jesus's day.No "Left Behind" delusion.History always repeats. There is nothing new under the sun.The repetition of history shows that there is only one who is in control of world history. There is no other mind to create something new in history.None.Otherwise there would be chaos in man's history if there were many supreme beings in control.Tribulation persecution will refine the "dirty metal" of today's worldwide apostate church to produce faith filled and holy saints just like the early churches of the book of Acts.A holy and blameless bride (church) produced solely by the power of the Holy Spirit will meet their Lord at the end of the 7 year tribulation during the resurrection and rapture. Signs are pointing to the 7 year tribulation in the book of Revelation starting this year, 2011.God will use the 7 year tribulation to try his church, not the world.Just as he did for his people during the 40 year wilderness trial described in the old testament. He wants a spotless and blameless bride to meet Jesus.Do you believe that the present worldwide church is holy and blameless, worthy to meet Jesus? I think not.God will use the tribulation to rid the present church of it's apostate ways and become holy and blameless.Hallelujah! Rejoice, saints (ANYONE in the world who believes and follows the Jesus of the bible) for the gospels are about to be repeated.Soon to be mass global signs and wonders done by the saints testifying of Jesus. They will be supernaturally empowered just like the early church.Exciting times ahead.

Does the Rapture occur before during or after the Great Tribulation?

There are varying views on this subject, but I believe the Scripture teaches a pre-Tribulation rapture for these three reasons: Rahab was rescued by the spies when they went to Jericho. This is a type of Christians being saved before trouble comes Lot, Abraham's nephew, was saved from Sodom before destruction came there, another type of the rapture. Also, Paul said in one of his letters, "God has not appointed us to wrath" And wrath is what the tribulation will be about. You have to make up lyour own mind on the subject. Whenever it happens, the point is that you are ready spiritually. If not, now is the time to make sure.

Will the church have to go through the tribulation?

The 'tribulation' is a fringe notion largely developed in the nineteenth century by John Nelson Darby, a British evangelical preacher and founder of the Plymouth Brethren. It is not a doctrine of most of the major Christian denominations, so on that view the church will not experience the tribulation.

How do you prepare for the tribulation?

Having a right relationship with God is the best way to prepare for the tribulation. A person can put their relationship right with God by accepting that Jesus died as a sacrifice for sin "and whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life".

Will believers go through great tribulation?

A:The 'Tribulation' is a theological invention of John Nelson Darby, founder of the Plymouth Brethren, in the nineteenth century. The Great Tribulation is the last half of Darby's seven-year Tribulation period, three and one-half years in length. Although few people belong the the Plymouth Brethren Church, many Protestants do believe in its founder's most enduring theological creation, the Rapture. This has helped popularise the fictional book series, Left Behind. .Barbara R. Rossing (The Rapture Exposed) says that according to one critic, the Rapture and the Tribulation had their origins with a young girl's vision. In 1830, fifteen-year-old Margaret MacDonald attended a healing service, where she was said to have seen a vision of a two-stage return of Jesus Christ. The story of her vision was adopted and amplified by Darby. .The belief that Jesus will come again was not new, and Christians have always taught that Jesus will return to earth and that believers should live in anticipation of his second coming. Darby's new teaching was that Christ would return twice, first in secret to "Rapture" his church out of the world and up to heaven, then a second time after seven years of global tribulation for non-believers, to establish a Jerusalem-based kingdom on earth. However, some modern proponents of the Tribulation saw what they felt to be flaws in Darby's scheme and delayed the Rapture, either to midway through the Tribulation, or even post-tribulation. In Darby's original scheme, believers would not go through the tribulation, but in the post-tribulation scenario, they would experience the entire tribulation period, including the 'Great Tribulation'. .It is one thing to predict the tribulation or the great tribulation, but it is an entirely different thing to demonstrate that it will ever happen. The Tribulation has no genuine biblical support, so there is no good reason to believe there will ever be the Tribulation taught by Darby, or a Great Tribulation. They make good reading in a fiction series, but should otherwise enjoy the same obscurity that John Nelson Darby now does.

What is a sentence using the word tribulation?

In the traditional sense of 'tribulation' - The loss of my home was a great tribulation to me and my family. In the theological sense of 'tribulation' - The 'Tribulation' is a theological invention of John Nelson Darby, the nineteenth-century founder of the Plymouth Brethren, but is now accepted as fact by millions of Christians.

Who did Jesus say will not see tribulation?

Jesus did not mention a single person who will miss tribulation in their lifetime. In fact He mentioned that His followers would have tribulation in their lives just by being His followers. Trials and tribulations are a fact of life. If you are speaking of the "Great Tribulation", persons who die before that time comes about will miss that terrible time and some Christians believe that they will be taken to heaven before that time comes.

Does saved born again christians go through the great tribulation?

There are several views on this. They can be roughly divided into "Pre-Trib" which believes they won't, "Post-Trib" which believes they will, and "Mid-Trib" which believes they'll go through part of it but not all of it. There's also a (joking) viewpoint called "Pan-Trib" which has no particular view in the matter, but believes it will all pan out in the end. Despite being a joke, it's probably the most sensible.

What preparations do God take us through in your lives?

Though trails and tribulation

What does post-tribulation mean?

A:'Post-tribulation' is a term used to define a version of theology originally invented by John Nelson Darby, the nineteenth-century founder of the Plymouth Brethren. Although few people belong the the Plymouth Brethren Church, many Christians believe in Darby's most enduring theological creation, the Rapture. However, one of the ways in which his original theology has evolved, is to diverge into pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation and post-tribulation strands.Barbara R. Rossing (The Rapture Exposed) says that the Rapture has its origins in the nineteenth century beginning, according to one critic, with a young girl's vision. In 1830, in Port Glasgow, Scotland, fifteen-year-old Margaret MacDonald attended a healing service, where she was said to have seen a vision of a two-stage return of Jesus Christ. The story of her vision was adopted and amplified by John Nelson Darby, a British evangelical preacher and founder of the Plymouth Brethren. The belief that Jesus will come again was not new, and Christians have always taught that Jesus will return to earth and that believers should live in anticipation of his second coming. Darby's new teaching was that Christ would return twice. The first return would be in secret, to "Rapture" his church out of the world and up to heaven. Christ would return a second time after seven years of global tribulation for non-believers, to establish a Jerusalem-based kingdom on earth. This, then was "pre-tribulation." Rossing says that some evangelists deal with the charge that this implies escapism for Christians, by delaying the Rapture until midway through (ie: "mid-tribulation") or even after (ie: "post-tribulation") the supposed seven-year tribulation. The beauty of Rapture theology is that, as it is not really true, it can be what you want it to be. The Rapture can be pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation or post-tribulation.
