Nobody knows what Microsoft will do. However there is something called a Live CD. When a Live CD is booted.it loads into and runs in memory without involving the hard drive.

The Windows operating system could also be used on up to 3 computers, making the operating systems easily affordable to large families. During Windows 7's premiere to the world a version, known as Windows 7: Family Pack, was released. This allowed users to purchase a copy of Windows 7: Home Premium for up to 3 computers. Microsoft kept this product off the advertising pages, hoping consumers would purchase Windows 7 retail version, only allowing users to install their product on one computer and purchasing additional copies for other computers.
