Remove the big center bolt that holds the harmonic balancer in place. If you have a complete hub puller assembly, it should screw into threaded holes. You'll need to work something out to protect the crankshaft threads when you tighten down the puller, just be aware that you don't want to destroy the crankshaft by messing up the threads. Tighten the puller and it should remove the harmonic balancer for you.
The balancer is attached to a flywheel that drives the serpentine belt for the water pump, power steering, etc. If harmonic balancer doesn't work, belt won't run, and eventually, neither will the car.
You need to get a special harmonic balancer pulley. You can rent them from AutoZone for $70 (you get it back when you return it)...a normal harmonic balancer pulley WILL NOT work. Chrysler vehicles have their own pulley. It's a fairly simple procedure once you have the right pulley.
Yes, the only thing that you will have to change is the flexplate to the trans mission. The 305-350 engines are internal balanced engines and the 383 is an external balanced engine. This means the Harmonic Balancer and the flexplate will be weight on them.
It is normal. Right=Tight Left=Loose. I just replaced my harmonic balancer on tacoma yesterday. I had to put a breaker bar and 2x4 for support. Then very very briefly hit the starter and it broje the bot loose. I tried about everything else and it didn't work.
They are both internally balanced, so it should work.
will a 1995 Chevy 350 lt1 motor work in a 1990 Chevy pick up
Use an impact wrench (1/2 inch works best) to loosen the harmonic balancer bolt. If you do not have one, you must keep the engine from rotating while loosening the bolt. Try leaving the serp belt on and add some more tension on the belt; then use a jerking motion to break free the bolt, you might get lucky...if that doesn't work remove the starter and insert something into the flywheel to lock it in place, then try to loosen the balancer bolt.
NO. 2 complete different computers. Will not work.
Yes, I believe it will fit. BUT, the timing marks won't be the same. Not a big problem, you'll just have to put new marks on the new balancer. Yes it will fit but it might not work as there are 2 differently weighted balancers 1st balancer is a 28 oz imbalance used on 70-80 302 and 70-1997 351W 2nd balancer is a 50 oz imbalance used on 81-90 302
DEPENDS ON WHAT MOTOR YOU HAVE,BUT IF ITS A 3800 ITS RIGHT BEHIND THE BALANCER.MUST REMOVE THE BALANCER, THAN UNBOLT SENSOR BE SURE THAT WHEN YOU INSTALL IT... THAT THE RING ON THE BALANCER DOES NOT HIT THE SENSOR OUR YOU WILL BE DOING IT AGAIN. I got stuck at the harmonic balancer because on my 1996 98 regency elite it seems you have to take the engine mount bracket off because, one of the arms to the bracket is secured over the top of the sensor to the engine block maybe this will help someone avoid alot of work they might not be able to handle lol
