It won't bolt in if that's what you were wondering. You can make anything fit with adapters and machine work and lots of $$.
NO it will not work. There is ONLY 2 years that will interchange with the 97 year truck. That is a 1997 and 1996 4L60E transmission.
Both use the 4.3 V6 and 4L60E transmission (assuming they're both auto). They'll work.
There are so many variables at work here that i don't think anyone could tell you.
yes 1973 to 1983 will work because this is before 1984 when wipers moved to the column in the full size trucks. it will bolt right in directly. good luck
To make that transmission work. You would have to install a computer and wiring harness and speed sensors. That would be alot of money. The 4L80E is a electronic controlled transmission.
No, because the transmission control module and speedometer will not line up, so it will not work.
will 225r7015 work on a Chevy pickup rather than a 235r7015 tire
There's ONLY 2 years that will work and ONLY 1 kind of transmission that will work. A 1996 or 1997 4L60E is what you will need to find.
It will bolt up. But it will not work. The 96 transmission is a computer controlled transmission/ Electronic. The 79 is not.
Yes, they both had the same transmission options.
A 4L60 (NOT a 4L60E) from a 2WD pickup will work. It MIGHT be possible that you'll need to use the original bell housing from the Caprice, although I can't for sure that this is the case.
It'll fit, but it probably won't work very well, as a 1996 transmission would be wholly electronic, and the 1990 transmission would not.
