Yes, it was actually optional
Yes
Oh yea :)
Depends on what year/type of engine (LT1, LS1, etc). If anyone has enough time and money, anything is possible.
If it's an LT1, it's rated at 260HP.
Yes a lt1 will fit in a 1991, but i believe the motor mounts are a little different for the lt1. You cannot transplant it though without an PCM from an lt1, which needs a 4l60E transmission to control the transmission and engine codes. There are standalone kits available but they cost more than a PCM.
260 HP and 330lb. tq. on the LT1 in the LS Caprice
I believe that the both the 96 vette and caprice use the LT1 (I think 96 was the last year for the LT1). In that case, yes.
Sure but it's a big job. New transmission; all new exhaust, electronics, fuel system and that's just the beginning. Suggest you get a doner car for all parts if possible.
For a V8, LT1 is the most common.
I believe all 96 Caprice came with a lt1 engine. So if it the lt1, the stock hp would be 260. Same exact engine that is in the Impala SS for 94 95 96.
Use an exhaust made for an LT1 engine the blocks are identical it is the insides that is different. Will bolt right on.
