it shouldn't. All power sources should be off with key off.. unless something has been plumbed into the live wire before ignition then u will possible have a draw. Computer controlled cars also have a slight draw on the system, so leaving it for longer periods of time (months) will drain it too), but if your battery is not faulty and cant stand for say a week or less, something is wrong.
If it's electric, it's possible. it may not be cutting off.
that happen to me. everyday in the morning the battery was dead until i found out it was the relay for the fuel pump, it was bad and it causes to leave the fuel pump on all night. maybe your is doing the same thing.
No, a bad coil will not drain the battery.
Bad fuel pump relays aren't very common but i do run across them every now and then. If the relay is bad one of 2 things will happen - if the relay is "open" (unable to complete the circuit)then the fuel pump will not run and the car will fail to start. If the fuel pump is shorted (the contacts in the relay are fused together)then the fuel pump will never shut off...even if you shut the car off and the key is in your hand the fuel pump will continue to run until the battery is drained of voltage. Then the car will not start without charging the battery or "jumping" the car. About the worst thing a bad fuel pump can do to your car is cause it not to start. It could possibly ruin your battery if the battery sits discharged too long. However the odds on that are not great. Just charge the battery - change out the bad fuel pump relay and everything should be OK.
No, it can cause you to use and excesive amount of fuel but it will not effect the battery.
If you have a bad fuel relay it will drain the battery in under 8 hours. Your fuel relay is a small device that sends current to the fuel pump (Energizes the fuel pump to pressurize the fuel system) - If the relay is bad, it won't "Turn Off" - meaning that the fuel pump thinks the car is running. If you have checked for the obvious (Car Stereo or other radio/accessory that could draw current) - I'd be looking at the relay as a suspect.
There are several models on the market, both currently and in the past, which use electric power steering pumps. The Toyota Prius, Chevy HHR and Subaru XT6 spring immediately to mind. If the pump or its controller in one of these vehicles were to go bad, it could very well drain a battery very quickly. If, however, you car has a traditional engine driven pump, then it would not drain the battery.
In rare instances it could get stuck in the "on" position, but if it did, the fuel pump would not shut off unless you disconnected the battery.
If the relay is bad, then the fuel pump will not work.
un hook the battery then rehook battery should reset if not then bad sensor some where
