Kittens taken away from their mother early tend to get attached to the human caring for them and will develop behaviours such as kneading, meowing for attention and inability to be left alone. They will lack good toilet manners and will not thrive well as they are no longer feeding off of mum. They tend to get sick easily from weak immune system (mothers milk helps to strengthen this usually). Hunting skills will be poor.

Put the dog on a leash in the house until the kitten investigates the house and the new owners. This should take approximately 1/2 hour. Then gently bring the dog over to the kitten. The kitten will hiss and arch it's back, but this is a normal instinct for them. Don't let the dog chase the kitten and keep a watchful eye on them. Pet the dog and then pet the kitten (putting the smell of the dog on the cat and then pet the dog putting the smell of the kitten on it.) No matter how large your dog is dogs generally learn very quickly that kittens are becoming a part of the family. Once you are fairly certain that the dog is gentle let the dog and kitten settle their differences. The kitten may get a crack or two with it's little nails into the nose of the dog and most of the time the dog will back off no matter how big they are. Before you know it they will be buddies.
