A psychiatrist
Psychologist or Psychiatrist (psychiatrist can prescribe medicine, but a psychologist cannot)
In the United States, PsyD psychologists are not typically licensed to prescribe medication. Only medical doctors (MDs), doctors of osteopathic medicine (DOs), nurse practitioners (NPs), and physician assistants (PAs) with specific training and certification are permitted to prescribe medication.

NO. Only a psychiatrist may prescribe medication in the state of NJ. Because a psychiatrist is labeled as an M.D. whereas a psychologist is not. There are only a few states that allow psychologists to prescribe medication, and NJ is not one of them. Although, many believe there is a great chance this law will eventually change, not only for the state of NJ, but for most if not every state.

Yes, psychology is related to medicine as it is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes, including diagnosing and treating mental health disorders. Psychologists often work alongside medical professionals, such as psychiatrists and primary care physicians, to provide comprehensive care for individuals with mental health issues.
Well, if concerta makes you sick then you should definitely tell your doctor and if he switches your meds there is probably an 80% chance he will prescribe adderall or some generic form b/c Ritalin and adderall are the go-to ADD meds
When my son was in 2nd grade, he was first on Ridilan and then Adderall. They were both prescribed by his pediatrician. For an adult to get on a drug like adderall, they have one that is stimulant free, I forget what it is called but that is generally prescribed by either your PCP or a Psychiatrist, they can write all sorts of anti-depressant drugs and other psychotropic drugs. (drugs that alter the brain's chemistry). If your PCP won't write it, then you may have to get a referral to a psychiatrist depending on your insurance plan. Many family doctor's (Primary Care Physicians) won't write for these types of drugs because it is out of their area of expertise.
Adderall is prescribed to adults to help them focus or stay calm, doctors may also prescribe it for weight loss
Not true. A psychologist is a non medical degree. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (physician) with a specialty in psychiatry. Therefore, a psychiatrist can prescribe medicine, where a psychologist cannot.
