We have had a red slider for 10 years. Yes, the same one. We feed him turtle sticks and occasionally dried shrimp treats. He knows when we are coming to feed him and answers to his name by stretching his head towards the voice. I don't recommend playing with him or handling him very much but they are fun to watch explore. Take him outside in warm weather for an occasional airing in the grass, but keep a sharp eye on him. Above all wash your hands thoroughly after any contact with your slider. I hope you have yours as long as we have had Leo!
A Red Eared Slider can only "procreate" (have young) with another Red Eared Slider but they have been known to "mate" (have sex) with Yellow Belly Sliders. They probably wouldn't try to mate with any other kind of turtle, other than a Slider.
Bugs.
you should not feed them garbage or other than what is their normal diet.
no do not feed your gecko anything other than food you get at the pet store
you can feed them peas or zucchini
Yes, they can eat ants, only in " Worst Case Scenarios " Like : You bought a slider and it didn't eat for more than 2 weeks, and you feed it an ant, and it likes it and wants more, sure. But if you feed it to your turtle as a diet, it may get sick, I have a R.E.S and I never fed it a ant, but I did research about this subject, so yeah, I hope I helped you! PS : If you DO get a slider, and it doesn't eat for a week or two, don't get scared, they do that all the time in the first two weeks they live with you, try to feed it earthworms if it doesn't eat for more than 2 WEEKS. And if it completely doesn't eat, you should talk to a vet, of course. Because RESes and Sliders have a BIG BIG BIG appetite, and its obviously weird for them to not eat " Earthworms "
If they've sufficient forage, they'll be fine. Otherwise, throw chicken feed down for them.
red eared slider turtles will eat alot of things like:guppies, snails, shrimp, somtimes crab or hermit crab, tetra fish(cloud white or glo lite),minnows, and somtimes even other turtles.
As a rule of thumb, you should not feed your turtle anything bigger than his head. Aquatic or semi aquatic turtles can eat fish. However, if you have them in a tank, even with filtration, it can cause an oily film on the surface of the water.
first you would get a tank, then you would have a filter for it, a heater, a light, a basking spot(you dont need a heater its optional) and fill the tank up to half way a bit higher than that. Clean the tank often about every week.(depence how messy your turtle is) if your going to feed it pellets i wouldent feed it to much. I have a red eared slider and it wasent all that hungrey when it was small because its just starting to get used to its habitat.
they feed on fish's body
Kangaroo (other than in zoos)
