Your 2002 Bonneville runs steady at 200 degrees is that normal?

this is normal for this engine, in fact anything short will trip a check engine light. the cause will be a low coolant condition, a thermostat stuck in the open position or a bad coolant sensor. this is normal for this engine, in fact anything short will trip a check engine light. the cause will be a low coolant condition, a thermostat stuck in the open position or a bad coolant sensor.

What is the desciption for error code P1255 on a 2000 golf 2.0 petro engine?

Engine coolant temperature sensor circuit short to ground

How do you solve check engine light cause by speed sensor?

Replace the faulty speed sensor and the light will reset itself after a short drive.

Would a bad o2 sensor cause spark plugs to foul in a very short time?

Yes it can. If the sensor sends a false reading it can cause the pcm to over fuel the engine.

Coolant temp sensor short form?

It tells the computer what the temperature of the engine coolant is...to aid in fuel trim calculations, cold starts, and if the thermostat is working properly. It may also be used by other systems, like heating and air conditioning.

What is wrong if the cooling fan comes on when the coolant sensor is unplugged but when it is plugged in the fan and AC will not work?

I have seen this before more than likely your coolant sensor has a internal short and needs to be replaced.

Your 2000 Saturn is having issues What if the temp gauge goes up and down but never to the hot side aka not overheating which causes the cars idle and performance to change At a stop does this too?

It sounds like your coolant temperature sensor is shorting out. From the factory these sensors are a plastic composite covered resistance sensor. Over time and lots of temperature cycles the plastic cracks and the coolant starts to short out the sensor. Your dealer has the replacement sensor, conveniently covered with a brass/copper jacket for about $25.00. The sensor is located on the driver side of the engine near the coolant return hose. All you need to do is unhook the wire connected to it, then remove the old sensor and quickly install the new sensor. Some coolant will leak in the process but is minimal and will not cause a problem as long as you do not take forever to install the new sensor. Reconnect the wire and you should be back in business.

How do you find and clean the coolant sensor - dashboard light indicates low coolant which is not true?

The coolant sensor is located on the radiator about 6 inche directly below the radiator cap on the engine side of the radiator. Remove the battery to gain access to the sensor. Release the spring clip holding the sensor and gently twist and pull the sensor out of the radiator. Disconnect the wire harness to remove the sensor from the car. Dirt may not be the problem. The sensor electronics are "potted". The potting may have have cracked allowing coolant to short out the sensor. I recommend replacing with a GM brand sensor rather than the available Standard brand name. Wholesale pricing of both is about the same and the GM part is more reliable.

Will a bad crank sensor cause a short an blow engine fuse?

The crank sensor produces a small amount of current that the ECM moniters. If it shorts out it simply won't produce any current.

What will cause your coolant fan not work on a 2006 Malibu?

Short in the wiring system, bad sensor bulb, bad fan motor... need to have a NexIQ box hooked up to the ECM and run a diagnostic.

Where is the radiator coolant level sensor on your 1997 Chevy Lumina engine?

,I have to replace my sensor too, The coolant sensor is located on the side of the Radiator, NOT the plastic coolant overflow bottle, as one would expect. You might want to drain the coolant down a little so when you take out the sensor, you don't make a mess. I think the sensor on these are around $40.00TomTom4049Just bought the coolant level sensor at AutoZone for $6.99, that's pretty cheap folks. This one is for a 1999 Cavalier with the 2.2, yours may vary slightly.I have a buddy who is non-mechanical when it comes to his car. Funny but he was a aircraft maintenance mechanic is the Air Force! I find that an odd juxtaposition. I will replace his sensor, flush and change the oil, oil filter, air filter, and replace the coolant, and install new plugs. He's a little short on funds so I bought everything myself. Everyone needs a friend like me.

What does a bad coolant temperature sensor do?

A bad sensor gives an inaccurate reading of the temperature of the critical antifreeze/coolant in an auto/truck engine. The sensor sends a message to the gauge and may "show" no reading or it may show a "Pegged hot reading". If the gauge doesn't show any change from the time you start the engine through the first 5 minutes of operation it is likely bad. there may or may not be overheating happening, most engines run fine without a functioning sensor, but you just won't know if you are operating in the too hot range. Operating an engine "too hot" for even short periods will damage it quickly.
