On 1983-95 models, the engine serial number is located on the lower left hand side of the crankcase above the oil drain plug. The frame serial number is stamped on the right hand side of the steering head. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is on the left hand of the steering head.
It's on a stretched A/G body frame (Chevy Malibu, Pontiac LeMans, etc.)
The Smith and Wesson K frame revolvers were made from 1946-1983.
