A teddy bear hamster will only eat her young if she is threatened or in danger or if she does not have food or if she needs some proteins other wise if left alone for the needed time before weaning the mother will raise her young normally.

∙ 13y agoAfter a female hamster as given birth it is important not to disturb her or her babies as she needs time to clean them and make sure they are OK. she will eat all of her babies if she feels they are at risk of if she feels she is at risk.

∙ 11y agoGeneraly yes, unless the pup has some problem, the mother will either eat it ( I know it sounds horrible but its natural.) or ignore it. Other than that yes the female will take care of it. The male however will aim to kill the pup, so keep the female and pups in seperate cage.
