If your Vulcan is a US model an 85 will be a 700cc moter. due to tarrifs the US govt put on import bikes for that year, the 86 is the first year the Vulcan came as a 750cc because Kawasaki moved a plant into the US. The VN7xx's are the same basic bike from beginning to end of production, so simple answer is yes the 85 will fir into the frame of the 89. There are probably going to be some minor differances though, the brake pedal might be differant and on later models the master cylinder changed from the square to round.

Yes. Everything is interchangeable between them. Very little if anything ever changed between any of the vn750 model years.
you can put castrol 10w30 but i would a brand made for motor cycles like motul or the factory oil
