I bought my house about 8 months ago and am currently in the process of digging it out. I will be successfull in restoring this pool no matter what. I have found quite a few things out to watch for during this process. I am aware that most of the patio and coping cement is inside the pool shell and will have to be remove. I am aware that all water and return lines are junk and have to be changed. I dont know yet if I will have to replaster the walls or if I can get away with the existing finish. I will have to at least repaint the surface. The paint is expensive $60-$120 a gallon. This is only one of a ton of forums on this subject. Do your research. If cost is not an option i found that you can have it professionally done for somewhere in the ballpark of $10,000 - $20,000 to have it excavated, resurfaced, piped, plumbed, painted, filled, filtered and swimable.
