It has the potential to permanently render your iPod incapable of being used. In other words, it might break it and that it may be permanent.
Jailbreaking can only be done for iPod Touches and iPhones. No other phone has the ability to be jailbroken. For an iPhone, you need to download a software from the internet to jailbreak it.
Yes, the jailbreak will be lost. When you upgrade your iPod Touch software, it is completely reinstalling the software used to run it. When you jailbreak an iPod Touch, you are only jailbreaking the software, not the actual iPod.
no but make sure you jailbreak it to your specific ipods generation and the type of software e.g. ios 4.2
By using connecting your iPhone/iPod to your computer and running some software. A process to use non-propietary software on the iPhone/iPod.
jailbreaking is allowing open software development on any electronic device, basicly it lets you download whatever you want from whoever you want.
Nope, jailbreaking an iPod is completely legal. Even though it's a sketchy sounding phrase, all it means is changing the software on your device.
I think that many people are finding the most jailbreaking software for their ipod.
Yes. jailbreaking could damage your ipod touch by slowing it down (not significantly, but it does slow it down). also the jailbreak might not always work. my diagnostic for that type of problem is wrong firmware or bad publisher of the jailbreak software. this is my problem/theory: ok, i tried to jailbreak my ipod touch 1st gen, i left it to do the jailbreaking and it turned itself off. now when i try to turn it back on, it just shows the apple symbol, same as normal when starting up, but never loads up. I have tried holding the home+sleep button to reset it, i have tried charging it. I would say jailbreaking is more of a 50/50 chance it will work or break your ipod.
Jailbreaking is quite dangerous, if it gets stuffed, there is NO GOING BACK! no warranty or anything. If you jailbreak, you cannot update in the future to whatever goodies Apple has in store for us! Buy the software! its only a few dollars! First off jailbreaking is not dangerous. i once tried to jailbreak it but my ipod was getting full and there wasn't much space in it so i had to jailbreak it again. and i unpluged it while it was jailbreaking and i thought my ipod was broken since when i turned it on, all i saw was jailbreaking data and so much white bright words. but itunes provides you a restore anytime for free! so i did it like 5 times since i had to jailbreak it like 5 times when the operation went wrong for my friends and i forgot to do something or i was missing something, all i did was restore it! and it went back to normal! and the versions (firmwares) are free! and you can update it , even when it is jailbroken. you can also get a warranty all you have to do is restore it again back to normal.
i would recommend using a software called blackra1n. you press one button and its done. No firmware downloads or any thing. Just look blackra1n up un youtube or google it to download it. Good Luck And Happy Jailbreaking!!!
Currently, a 3rd generation iPod Touch cannot be jailbroken. The 3rd generation iPod Touch has a built-in firewall of sorts, and prevents jailbreaking. This was a measure taken by Apple to ensure that no one can jailbreak the iPod Touch. However, there is a jailbreak software currently being beta-tested for the 3rd generation iPod Touch.
Depends on if you want it tethered or untethered. (Tethered means that when you shut down, it will boot up to the original Apple software. Untethered is permanent unless you reset the ipod) I recommend Greenpois0n (with a zero for the second O) for untethered and Redsn0w for tethered. Both are trusted jailbreaks that are nearly always successful.
