Lemons have been shown to have pigment-lightening qualities due to their very acidic nature. You might have heard of young girls using lemon juice to try and lighten their hair or give themselves highlights. While lemons are said to be a more "natural" remedy compared to skin lightening creams, the extreme acidity of the citrus can dry out and damage skin, thus leaving it in worse condition overall (especially if you have sensitive skin to begin with). If you decide to use lemon juice, try to confine it to just the spot itself, and if you wish to be cautious, dilute the juice before applying. Applying a couple times a day over a long course of time will usually show the sunspot fading. Since your skin will be sensitive due to the acidic nature of this treatment, wear a sunscreen that is at least 30 SPF and protects against multiple sun-ray spectrums.
It should be noted that sunspots might fade overtime by themselves if the skin is properly cared for and protected. Using a gentle, facial moisturizer twice a day and applying at least 15 SPF sunscreen (in moderate sunshine) to your skin will keep it healthy and vibrant, and will also protect against future sunspots (some moisturizers contain sunscreen for maximum convenience). Drinking plenty of water daily and taking Vitamins C & E can also aid in the general health of your skin and complexion. If you can, wear clothing and hats that will cover skin in harsh sunlight (some active-wear contain sun-repelling weaves to prevent rays from penetrating through cloth and onto skin).
