Probably not, but for admission into West Point the answer would be yes. However to gain admission as an enlisted soldier at USMA you must be an outstanding soldier and must show evident leadership potential. This is the path I recommend to you to be able to gain admission into an Ivy League School in accordance with your current situation but keep in mind that the admission process for an enlisted soldier is tough and competitive and most probably you would need to attend the United States Military Academy Preparatory School first before being able to study at West Point. You also need to be under 23 by the July of the year you gain admission tot he academy. No age waivers are allowed.

If you do make it into USMA and have graduated from West Point you then can apply for admission to an Ivy League school for graduate study and most probably you will be accepted due to West Point's high emphasis on extra-curricular activities and leadership, teamwork skills. Many West Point graduates have followed this path. For example, West Point alumni such as General John Abizaid, General Stanley McChrystal and Lieutenant Colonel Harold Moore have attended Harvard University.

Good luck.

What is the difference between co-curricular and extra-curricular in education terminology?

"extra-curricular"activities, these experiences are more accurately re-phrasedas "co-curricular"-- study abroad, leadership training, service learning, interdisciplinary studies, interracial interaction, and contemplative practices. These practices help students develop skills in a safe environment that can lead to greater sense of belonging, leadership, and purpose.[/url]More generally, 'co-curricular'seem to be activities that are closer adjuncts to a school curriculum. 'Extracurricular activities' in my day were activities like the chess club and Varsity football, which took place after school.

Is it fair for students be required to be on honer roll for them to do extracurricular activates?

Extracurricular activities are important to round out your education, and are often important and fair in high school to be on the National Honor Society that takes service and leadership activities into account besides grades. The Honor Roll usually considers grades only, not extra curricular activities. It is up to the school system, however, to define their terms. Frankly, I never heard of extra curricular activities as a requirement for honor roll.

With a 3.6 GPA could you get into the University of Michigan or Ohio State University if you put in good extra curricular activities and community service hours?

Yes you can. I was able to get in with a 3.4 GPA and outside of the top 25% of my class. (700 People) I wasnt extremely involved in extra curricular activities. I was in a few things, but that's it. I did have upwards of 90+ Hours of Community Service though. Your Test Scores can impact it as well. I scored a 29 on the ACT, but have a roomate at OSU who had a composite 21 and was able to get in. So I would say you have a pretty good chance of getting in. Nothing guaranteed.
