No way, not even close. Chevy REDESIGNED the engine blocks and the transmissions in late 1999. Nothing will interchange under 1999.
The camshaft is located in the middle top of the engine block. It is below the intake manifold and between the heads.
its in the air intake TUBE from the air filter intake air temperature IAT
it can be done but the 5.3 is a much stronger block. don't get me wrong i love the old sbc and especial the vortecs but the 5.3 is stronger. a simple cam and intake swap can wake it up big time. also the junk yards are full of the 5.3 engines. the 5.7 vortec is getting harder to find.
on a 2001, with the 3.3, the knock sensor is under the water crossover pipes, which are under the intake manifold. Pain to change. Take off plenum, intake manifold and there it is, on top of the block between the heads.
ON THE REAR SIDE OF THE BLOCK UNDER THE INTAKE
The engine block and heads are the same. The intake and exhaust manifolds are different. The transmissions do not interchange due to different control systems.
Where is the oil sending unit located on the 2001 Chevy 43. vortec engine?
...is located under the intake plenum on top of the block. Follow the lower radiator hose to the top of the block. pita location for sure.
5.7 vortec
10 horsepower or less
The EGR valve is located in the center of the intake, at the front of the engine, between the alternator and the A/C compressor. I've added a picture of the location to the links on the right. It is titled "Picture of EGR valve location, on 1996 - 2001 4.3L (262c.i.) Vortec V6 engines"
its located behind the intake manifold on the top surface of the cylinder block
