Good question. Are they the same year, wheel base, automatic, air conditioning, ect? I take it you found a set off a Comanche, and you have a Cherokee? Here is what I would do. Call the dealer and get the part number for the Comanche, then call again and get the price and part number for a Cherokee. If the same, good too go. If not? Good luck
No, they will not. Comanche springs are longer than the Cherokee Springs. While all the front suspension parts are completely interchangeable and identical, the rear is completely different.
Try Omix-Ada for replacement springs. HD Leaf Springs for my 1991 were spot on.
rustysoffroad.com has new leaf packs 269.00 a pair
rear leaf front coil springs
It has leaf springs.
2, in the front only. The rear has leaf springs.
Broken are weak leaf springs on the rear.
Coil springs in the front, leaf springs in the rear.
To give suspension from the rear axle to the frame.
On the same year Comanche everything fits from a Cherokee forward from the front doors. Rear brakes/proportioning valve are different though. Interior is exactly the same up to (and including) the front seats. Bed, rear axle setup/etc is different from MJ to XJ.
there is no alignment for a leaf sprung rear axle. the center pins on the springs seat into holes on the perches. that's what aligns the rear.
Coil springs are spiral. Leaf springs are flat blades of steel stacked on top of each other. Air springs are bags of air. Leaf springs are cheaper and carry more weight (hence often rear springs are leaf). Coil springs are wound tighter at the bottom so that their spring constant is greater (this is to make a linear force after compensating for gravity).
Solid rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs (1973-1977)
