Not at all likely - way too many design changes between those model years.
Model years 1996-1999 grouped together as the same basic design, and then the 2000-2005 (or so) were a significant modification from those.
There were also differences between the Sable & Taurus models. For example, the 1998 Sable rear window was mostly square - contrasted by the Taurus have an extreme oval shape (during those dreaded 'oval-design' days)
