Actually, this isn't a hit and run with just a "bump." Hit and runs are when you really slam into someone or hit a person crossing the street and don't stop. I'd beat the person to the punch and actually go into your local precinct and explain the circumstances. Why? This person could phone and make up the date, time and have the police banging on your door. Then go to a lawyer! If you don't, this person can simply say it was a hit and run and they got your license number. It's obvious there was no bodily injuries to either of you. Someone is coaxing this person to try and sue you for everything you've got, so go see that lawyer or, if you can't afford that go for free legal council.
yes you can get in big trouble with the police
No, you get in trouble for calling the police for silly things. Only call the police if you are in serious trouble or you witness a crime or an accident or any real emergency. You call animal control for a rat.
It depends on who is at fault for the accident. The person that the police determine caused the accident will get the ticket.
dont no
"No, if a person simply drives away after an accident this is considered a hit-and-run. If an accident occurs, even if there are no injuries it is essential that it is reported to the police."
Simply, call the police!
As soon as you leave the scene of the accident you have committed the crime of "hit & run."
Yes, you can. If you are involved in an accident and have their license plate, either file a police report and the police will get the information for you, or,contact your insurance company. Keep in mind, insurance records are NOT public information.
You can't unless they tell you who they are insured with. Who a person is insured with or even if they have insurance is a private matter between the insured and the insurance company. Now, if there is an accident and the police come to the scene they will collect that information and put it in the accident report. This is why it is crucial to always call the police to the scene of the accident no matter how much the other person begs to give them a break. Always, always!!! call the police to the scene of an accident. The exception is if the accident is on private property.
Hit and run refers specifically to an auto accident in which Person A hits Person B and/or their car, and then leaves the scene of the accident without waiting for the police.
If it can be proven then yes.
