I need wiring schematic for alternator wiring on old hyster.
The switch will depend on the alternators and car wiring. The switch could require removing an external regulator as well. You will need a wiring diagram of the vehicle wiring to decide which wires to change.
If you have a new alternator its as simple as run the one wire to the solenoid. If you are converting the alternator to a one wire, you will need an external regulator. I have a lucas alternator with two large spade terminals and one small i am fitting this alternator to a boat can some one help with the wiring
The wiring harness from a typical alternator has three wires. One is for grounding, one is from the battery, and the other is from the voltage regulator. In a GM alternator however, there may be two wires or only one wire. It depends on whether you have an external voltage regulator or not, and if the alternator simply grounds itself to the bracket it's attached to. The best way to find out is to trace the wires to their sources.
Well depends on which wire you are trying to replace? The hot wire that goes from the alt to the battery? Or the wiring harness?
there should be an alternator "plug" which consists of 2 wires that go to a plastic plug that snaps into the alternator. the wire lead should be a part of the engine wire harness located on drivers side firewall about 1 1/2 feet below wiper deck. the alternator itself has a screw off back side that can be removed for internal wiring issues related solely to the alternator itself. i would buy a manual from your local auto parts store (or order it in) for the 80 TA it should have a diagram for the alternator wiring with an exploded view.
First you need to unclip the wiring harness, the unscrew the hot wire, then loosen the tensioner, the at the bottom of the alternator the is a big screw that holds it in unscrew that and pull the screw out and boom the alternator is out!!
Disconnect the 98 LeSabre battery. Remove the alternator belt. Remove the alternator wiring. unbolt the alternator, remove it, and bolt the new one on. Reconnect the wiring, but the belt on, then reconnect the battery.
If it is melting over a period of time, try replacing the connector on the wire at the back of the alternator, or replace the wire and connectors. A little more info would be nice!!!
remove positive wire from battery.remove the radiator fan, remove the alternator bolts and wiring. remove the small panel under the radiator and - tadaaah!
Yes. Instructions come in the box.
