• It's American-made, rather than foreign-made.
• It was the inspiration for the word 'skyscraper'.
• It has become a symbol for New York, and is in fact named for New York's nickname, the Empire state.
• It has a world-famous outdoor observation deck, on the 86th floor.
• It has been featured in movies from King Kong to Sleepless in Seattle.

Points in favor of the Statue of Liberty:

• It's one of the world's most recognized landmarks.
• It was a gift from France, to celebrate our nation's centennial.
• Through its association with Ellis Island, it's become a symbol of immigrants and immigration, and the opening of America thereto.
• "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."
• It has an observation deck in Liberty's crown (currently closed to the public).
• It has been featured in movies from Planet of the Apesto Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins.
