No it would make the motor run ruf.
If the transmission modulator valve is vacuum operated and it goes bad it can allow the engine to suck transmission fluid thru the engine causing the engine to blow blue smoke out the exhaust.
try changing fluid and filter (if any)
According to IMDb, former Bronco Tom Jackson never appeared on Good Times.
bad filter
Inside the transmission...what it does is makes it change gears at certain times, this is done by using vacuum from the engine to control the valve body, and when it goes bad you,ll know it,it wont change gears good ,and it may pull transmission fluid in from it and burn it through the engine also, this will create a white smoke from it,but it will not change gears right you may also notice a slight miss-fire at idle because of it being bad or a higher idle, those are the most common symptoms of a bad one. Chrysler doesn't use a vaccumm modulator valve on any of its transmissions.
yes and some times die
Most times the WHITE smoke is actually steam from a coolant leak into the combustion chamber. Usually bad news (cracked head, cracked block, leaking head gasket). If it is truly smoke, (doesnt readily dissipate), then more than likely its transmission fluid being drawn into the carburetor through a bad vacuum modulator valve on the transmission, not uncommon on older vehicles.
Look underneath on the transmission. It screws in and usually has a round head on it.2-3 times bigger than a spark plug and a vacuum hose attached to it.Just pull the hose lose and unscrew it with visegrips or suitable tool.A repair manual will show you exactly. Dude, there isn't a modulator on a Chev truck of that era. And if it had a turbo 400, the mod is held in by a little bracket. I am sure you have a 4L60E however. Dan the tranny man
YES there is. If you would like more fluid pressure and for it to shift harder and later then remove the small vaccum hose on the end of it and take a SMALL flat tip screwdriver and put it in the small hole were the vaccum line was and turn the screw inside 1 turn to the right and then put the line back on and drive it. You may have to do this a few times untill you get it to shift were you want it.
A person can visit a Ford dealership and ask for a 1989 Ford Bronco fuel diagram. Many times the Ford dealers will have mechanics on hand and they can give a customer a copy.
Coolant? Bad radiator Radiator has a separate cooling tank (usually at the side or bottom of radiator) for transmission fluid. At times this tank ruptures allowing coolant to get into transmission. Most times causing a transmission failure.
Some times yes, other times no.
