A bad engine oil pump could destroy the engine if allowed to continue to run. If the engine oil light stays on and or the oil pressure gauge reads "0", the engine is in serious trouble. Have it towed to a shop for diagnoses.

Many times an electronic fuel pump, that is going bad, will cause the engine to stop running and then start again. The fuel pump will eventually get worse.

Fuel pump failure is the most likely cause but it can be other things. Check to see if the fuel pump is running. Can be a blown fuel pump fuse or bad fuel pump relay. But on a 19 year old car the pump very well may be defective.
