You probably should use a mid grade or premium grade gas unless you operate your Pilot at high altitude. Towing heavy loads at low altitudes while using 87 octane can cause the engine to ping or knock, particularly if climbing a hill. If you hear a knocking or pinging from the engine it means the octane is probably too low. Remember, knocking is the sound the engine makes because the gasoline is exploding instead of burning rapidly. When towing and you hear the engine knock try shifting to a lower gear and ease off the throttle a bit. That should stop the knocking, however it's best to spend a few extra cents per gallon and go with a better grade of fuel as long term damage can be done to the engine. Also, if you tow a lot, consider an after factory transmission cooler. Honda Pilots are not designed for long term use as a tow vehicle.

Can you use non premium gas on your Infiniti I-30?

Yes, you may use non-premium gasoline (87 octane) in the Infiniti I30 from 1999 or earlier for sure. For the 2000 model year and onward, the compression ratio in the engine was increased and the manufacturer recommends higher octane gasoline (92+) for maximum performance and engine life. This will also prevent a "check engine" light and the engine from knocking under higher load.

What harm will you do to you engine by using a higher weight oil?

If you use a higher weight oil than recommended by the manufacture you may cause premature engine wear caused by oil starvation at startup. Use exactly what the manufacture of your vehicle recommends and nothing else.

Is 93 octane gas ok for a small generator?

Only if the engine manufacture recommends 93 octane which is highly unlikely. Most likely the manufacture recommends 87 octane and that is what you should use. Using a higher octane is a waste of money and will provide no benefit whatsoever.

What type of oil is used in craftsman snowblower model 247.88790.0?

The owners manual is available online for both the craftsman model and the tecuseh engine. The Tecumseh owners manual recommends SAE30 for operating at 40F or higher. It recommends SAE10 or SAE 5W30 for -20F to 40F. It recommends SAE 0W30 for 40F down to temperatures below -20F.

Is it okay to use 20w-50 racing oil in a performance engine?

Use exactly what your owner's manual lists as the recommended oil. Unless it is an after market or modify engine for higher performance, a specially turbo applications 20w-50 Synthetics is highly recommended due to higher stress levels and higher temperatures. But if it is just factory performance engine use what factory recommends because that's what engine was design for.

Which is better 87 octane or 93 octane non ethenol gas?

There is no better. If your car is designed to run on 87 octane then using 93 octane is a total waste of money. The higher octane will provide no more power, no better fuel economy, and is of no benefit to the engine whatsoever. In fact using a high octane fuel in an engine designed for 87 octane may actually cause hard starting. Use exactly the octane as recommended by the manufacturer of the vehicle. Saying that, if your car is designed to run on 93 octane then using 87 octane can be detrimental to the engine due to pre-detonation that will be caused by running the lower octane fuel. It depends on whether the manufacturer recommends the use of higher octane fuel or says it is mandatory. Most vehicles built in the last few years where 93 octane is recommended can run on 87 octane with a slight loss in power. The engine fuel management system will adjust for the lower octane and there will be no harm to the engine. The bottom line is to use exactly what the manufacture recommends.

What kind of gas should be used for a 1998 Honda prelude?

The 2.2 liter VTEC (H22A) engine recommends top grade (premium) fuel due to higher compression. You may use lower grade (lower octane) fuel but run the risk of damaging the engine and will surely reduce engine performance and reduce fuel economy.

What could cause slight engine missing when driving to higher altitudes usually 3000 feet?

check the rubber tube next to the the lower intake manifold gasket, there is probably a hole on the underside of the tube coming directly off the engine. (it is a manufacturer defect)

Can you put premium gas in your Lincoln MKZ?

You can of course but it will provide you no benefit whatsoever. You will get no better mileage, have no more power, and may even experience hard starting. It would be a total waste of your money. Use exactly the octane that Lincoln recommends. It is a myth that a higher octane fuel helps any engine that is not designed for that higher octane.

You just put a higher octane gas in your truck -87- instead of -85- why is your engine making weird pinging noises as you give it more throttle?

Engine has a knock sensor and detonation sensor. Higher octane fuel causes changes the flash point, meaning that the fuel is burning at a different temperature.

What is the difference between super unleaded gas unleaded plus and regular unleaded?

The difference is the octane rating, (in the USA)regular- 87 octane, plus is 89 octane and super is 91 or 93 octane depending on avail. Always use what the manufacturer recommends or higher Using a lower octane or sometime fuel from a no name gas station can cause engine Detonation/knock/pinging. This is when gas ignites by compression rather than the spark from the spark plug. Knock can(WILL) damage an engine if left unchecked, so it is not something you want to have happening. Though most new cars' ECM will adjust ignition timing if detonation is detected. The use of a higher octane fuel than required, can be a waste of money. Some newer vehicles can get better gas mileage with higher octane if the ECM will adapt to it/ depending on the vehicle(seen it mostly with pickups that haul loads). Using higher octane fuel "WILL NOT" damage the engine.

Can i put 20w- 50 oil in my 2001 kia?

I wouldn't recommend it. The tolerances for the main bearing for the engine tend to be pretty tight, and using oil of a weight that much higher than what the OEM recommends could lead to that main bearing not getting properly lubricated.
