The dandruff shampoos are very strong and harsher than normal shampoos so it will strip the colour off. Wash daily for about a week to diminish it further to a med-light brown from a black colour. Make sure you condition it well after each washing to keep it healthy. If you don't have any dandruff shampoo, dish detergent works but not quite as well. The best rule of thumb is : if you have light coloured hair - blond or golden blond or light blond do not use colours with "ash" in the titles or those with "red tones". Ash colours will turn blond hair greenish and red tones will turn your hair orange. Stick with colours that are neutral not warm or cool tones. When you want to do darker you must use a toner first then the darker colour you want but stick to no more than 2 shades darker. A red tone permenant hair colour can be used as a toner if you are going to a brown shade.
