You have a strange noise on your 97 crv as you go up hills sounds like a broken muffler or blown gasket but that is not the problem only happens when accelerating up hill any suggestions thanks?

Could be exhaust manifold at the doughnut ring connection. Not sure if a CRV has a spring loaded connection, but if the exhaust system is plugged (cat and / or muffler) the motor exhaust pressure is blowing out the flange ring.

This sounds like something loose underneath that rattles only at a certain vibration level while accelerating. I would get underneath the car when cold and see if pushing on the various heat shields or muffler components shows a loose connection.
