But say you had Drive I: with your OS on it and drive C: with all other data on it and your formatted drive c you would not remove the OS unless you formatted drive I:

First of all, the only way to get your videos back is if you have backup copies. Second of all, next time you have to do something like that unplug all attached cameras, iPods, etc. Formatting deletes everything on Drive D.
