You have the same problem how do you fix it the convertible top on my 97 jaguar xk8 will not shut how can i fix it will not latch and i hear no sound from the top?

You need to manual override. Mine has done this before. It is in the handbook. In the trunk on the right side remove panel and you will see the pump , on it is an Allen key. Just above the Allen key you will see a valve turn it about 3 turns. this is a pressure release valve. take the Allen key into the cab and pop off the little round cap above the rear view mirror. Insert the Allen key and latch the top. then go back to the trunk turn the pressure release key back to normal position. Good luck
