The trunk automatically locks when the central locking is activated. Do you mean that the trunk remains unlocked even when the car doors are locked? The lock systems on these cars are not good either in terms of logic or manufacture. Im having the same problem with my 2002 passat. It's probably a sensor or something. You probably should have a diagnostic test run on it, if you can. I dont think its terribly important, because in the manual it would say DO NOT DRIVE CAR.
The diagram for the fuse box should be in the fuse box or the cars manual. If it is not in either of these places the manufactures site should have one for download or a repair manual can be purchased with it in it.
You might need to programming the remote. Their should be instructions in the users manual. You're remote could also be need new batteries.
