if the top hose is hot then the thermostat is opening
middle of engine ,fan belt side of engine, follow upper radiator hose to housing that housing has another hose connected U SHAPED where it connects to bottom is thermostat housing's bolts a little tight area but just replaced it in my wives 1993 villager
Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. That is the thermostat housing. You may have to remove the upper drive belt cover to gain access.
How do you change the thermostat in 1999 Mercury Villager
Have had your water pump replaced lately?Does your coolant reservoir boil over?Check to see if your radiator has been bled to remove air in your system.I have a 96 villager that was doing the same thing.First remove the radiator cap, turn your van on and let the engine reach normal running and allow the thermostat to open, you will notice the fluid level drop, then add the appropriate level of fluid, put radiator cap back on and test drive. This should solve the problem. If not you may have a bad thermostat.
On the radiator.
Low coolant? Bad thermostat? Water pump not circulating coolant? Defective radiator cap not building proper pressure?
Did you put the thermostat in backwards? I would check to see where the steam is coming from. I had to change out small hoses for the same problem with mine.
where is the radiator drain plug on a mercury villager
by da engine
Bottom of radiator, passenger side.
The thermostat at the engine in a 2000 Mercury Villager is located Êon the right passenger side near the middle. You should look for the jiggle valve on the thermostat that should be facing up.
Either the thermostat was not the problem, or you put it in backwards.
