When the pressure shows 0 it means that the water is circulating as well as it can the pressure goes up as the filter gets dirtier and water is held back by the filter. If your pressure has suddenly dropped Far lower then usual it indicates that there is a problem in the filter. water is getting through somehow without being filtered. if you have a cartridge filter there may be same damage to it reducing back pressure.
When you turn off the pump, the water flow stops, causing a sudden drop in pressure within the skimmer and the plumbing system. This can lead to a backflow of water, pushing it out of the skimmer basket. If the basket is not securely seated or if there are air leaks in the system, it may pop off, allowing water to gush out. Additionally, clogged pipes or a full skimmer basket can exacerbate this issue by creating additional pressure.
A skimmer weir is the plastic flap and the opening of the skimmer. It traps leaves that are pulled into the skimmer when the pump is running and then holds the leaves in the skimmer whne the pump shuts down
here is how I did it - I built a box out of wood big enough to cover the skimmer area . I built mine out of scrap wood. I then covered the edges of the box with foam window seal to give it a good seal. Place the box over the skimmer area. When you start you will only lose the water inside the box and the water pressure will seal the area. Replace skimmer, remove box.
If the skimmer is not slurping when the pump is on, it may indicate a problem with the skimmer's water flow or air intake. It's essential to check for blockages in the skimmer throat or the plumbing and ensure that the water level is appropriate. While occasional quiet periods can occur, consistent lack of skimming action could lead to poor water quality. Regular maintenance and troubleshooting are recommended to ensure optimal performance.
Sure you can. You'll need to use a net to clean the junk off the top often so it doesn't sink and cause stains or clog up the main drain. You can however it would be a good Idea to repair or replace the existing skimmer with a different method of skimming say a suction side floating skimmer as there are many materials that float to the top of a swimming pool that may be hazardous to health RB
if your talking about the plane skimmer there is no skimmer but there is a very simulair plane called a dodo
Widow Skimmer was created in 1839.
Purple Skimmer was created in 1922.
That piece of plumbing may have some blockage in it or there may be a restriction of some sort on that line. There may also be a leak in that side of the plumbing. Is there any air coming back to the pool when in this position? If so that is the cause. Fix the suction leak and try again. The 3 way may not be positioning completely over that port. Or it could be that the three way valve does not have the 3rd port open. If the 3 way is prior to the pump, then one port goes to the bottom of the skimmer, the other goes to one of the main drain ports. When your skimmer has reduced "suction" (not pressure) it is then the 3 way may be drawing from both skimmer and main drain at the same time. You only have "pressure" after the pump and at the filter. Before the pump then it is considered suction. Or the 3 way may be plumbed or labeled wrong. Also, in another instance, with the valve in the skimmer position - it could be drawing from more than one skimmer. I suspect the latter answer.
The pool's manufacturer. They are not at all standardized across brands, so you need to know what brand your skimmer or pool is, and it helps if you can locate a pool store and bring the old skimmer to them - they may be able to order one, even if they don't have that brand in stock.
