This would hopefully mean that your computer is on a network, and that other computers are accessing it.
If your computer is NOT on a network, it may well mean that somebody is accessing it remotely and assumedly without authorization (e.g. somebody has "hacked" into it). If you're getting this message, and your comptuer isn't on any network, you should terminate your internet connection (remove the Ethernet/modem cord from its plug, shut down your wireless connection, etc.) and run antivirus and related software immediately.
