Bad steering rack? Bad steering gear? Pitman arm?
Increased glare from lights, especially oncoming headlights when driving at night.
4 time ASE certified tech here, warped front brake rotors will make your brake pedal pulsate and steering wheel shake when braking. most noticed when moderate braking at 40 - 50 mph.
On my Astra M reg I noticed a slow clicking when driving slowley which increased in temo as my speed went up, I figured it was the speedo. A few weeks later my speedo cable snapped and the clicking stopped, Just looking for replacement Speedo cable now...
Had this same issue in a '93 Probe. Replaced the CV axle and stabilizer links to no avail. While replacing the steering bushings I noticed my rim was somewhat warped, so I had replaced with a spare. Not sure if it was the wheel or the bushings but the sound disappeared! And man was it ever a frustrating noise!
On my 1999 Dodge Stratus, I noticed the horn sounding when making sharp turns, then later when going over rough bumps. I was because the four rubber washers inside the steering wheel horn actuator had disintegrated - it was a simple job to pull out the steering wheel air bag and replace these washers.
Be sure the battery connections are clean and tight.
Show people your penis, but when you see a cop throw a towel over yourself :)
Sorry, it didn't let me go into detail. But it's when I'm accelerating like sometimes at slower speeds when my car is switching gears or I noticed it yesterday on a freeway. The steering just feels like it goes really loose? Any ideas?
Never noticed any, but then maybe I've always been driving too fast...
Wich belt is the fluid coming from under and what kind of vehicle is it? The fluid may be power steering fluid. If the fluid leaked and got hot it would smoke. If the power steering pump seized your vehicle may not start because of the resistance to cranking caused by the belt and frozen pump. You may have noticed difficulty in turning the steering wheel or a grinding noise ( power steering gear box ) prior to this. The fluid may be clean motor oil. It also smokes when hot. If so you may have a warped head or blown head gasket. This lack of compression could cause the vehicle not to start. The fluid may be brake fluid. If so you have two problems; one leaking brake fluid and the other a starting problem that is not associated with the brakes. You would have noticed mushy braking in your brake pedal.
My 2007 6M/T has a slight whine that comes from the transmission.
They are both risky behaviors when driving. All it takes is a split second to not see a pedestrian crossing the road or steering into someone's lane. One time I followed my sister and noticed that she was swerving. I thought she was drunk, so I called her to make sure she was ok to drive and she told me she was text messaging. You should watch 7lbs. People make mistakes when they are sober and not on the phone, it is MUCH worse if you are doing one or the other. Pay attention on the roads, you may hurt yourself and others. Also, be careful if you see other people on the road with a cell phone, watch your surroundings when driving.
