If your Impala jerks while going up hills, it could be low on Transmission Fluid. If it does not do it on level ground, check the fluid and replace the filter.
Worn tires? Rotor out of round? Bad wheel bearing?
You should probably see about checking out your transmission!
why does my 1991 Chevy lumina that when going up a hill or when it reaches approximatly 65 mph starts hestitating, when cars get older they do that.
because the car can't take up hill but can take down hill
The float in your carburetor might be stuck, or your fuel pump (or line ) might have a piece of trash in it.
You probable don't check you re transmission fluid and its dirty or low, or maybe you played around with the auto-stick feature too much and ran too low or too high of rpms, but wither way, sounds like your transmission is going out.
When first start the engine on your ford escape in park, it sputtered and then when warm up it runs ok and then when you driving on the road it jerks going up the hill and lose power. And on flat road it smooth out.
It could be a fuel filter or with my 2001 Impala, it was my Catalytic Converter. Is their a check engine light on? Schucks should have a scanner you can use for free to asses the issue. Good luck.
Mask Hill
If you are driving a loaded tractor trailer, you would downshift to gain more power when going up hill and downshift to control speed when going down hill.
