it very well could be a bad compressor, but you may also have a leak in one of the a/c lines, or the orfice tube. if you take it to a garage that does a/c work, they could hook it up to a machine and run an ultraviolet dye through the a/c system and look at it under the hood to see if there are any leaks. It could also be a simple thing as a schrader valve
A condensing unit should not wobble. If it does wobble, it can lead to issues such as broken lines. It could also cause the compressor to stop working.
More than likely the a/c compressor is bad. The compressor clutch could be shorted also.
It could be that the unit is overcharged and the compressor is shutting down on overload. Check to see if the compressor is running when the hot air starts blowing.
Blower motor working? Could be bad vacuum motor or connection could be plugged evaporator
If it stops blowing cold air then your clutch on the compressor is probably not any good, or it could be that you need to recharge your freon and lubricant
Yes it would cause your compressor needs that fan to cool down the refrigerant going through your condensing coils.. Without that fan it would cause high head pressure and damage the compressor as well..
There could be several reasons that could be the cause of your problem. But more than likely the compressor is not working or you have lost all of your coolant. If it's a window AC then get a new one, if it's a Central HVAC then find a good HVAC Tech to check your compressor and Coolant Levels.
There could be loosened internal mounts (connecting rods, pistons, pins, crankshafts or other related parts) in the compressor causing the banging or knocking noise. A simple call to a technician should resolve the issue.
It needs to be re gassed
Change the expansion valve it will work fine
the a/c clutch is loose and is shorting out. the compressor and clutch must be replaced
If they are blowing instantly as soon as the unit tries to start that usually indicates a defective compressor. If they only blow once in awhile that could be a number of things and would require a competent ac tech to have a look at it to determine and repair the cause.
