as far as stalling, could it be an idle sensor gone wrong? As far as kickdown, perhaps a stuck accellerator cable, seeing as the linkage is mechanical, a sticky throttle lever? One could get the auto tranny flushed and refilled with fresh fluid....worth a try...

These kicks are also called "Inside Kick" and "Outside Kick" at some taekwondo schools, and "Inside-Outside" and "Outside-Inside" at others.Spin Kicks: There are several spinning kicks that involve the rotation of the entire body and head before the kick is released. Spinning kicks include the back pivot kick, spinning hook kick, spinning axe kick, butterfly kick, returning kick, 360 turning kick or tornado kick, and a number of other kicks of varying popularity.Jump Kicks: there are also many kicks that involve jumping before their execution. These include jumping front kick, jumping side kick, flying side kick, jumping axe kick, jumping roundhouse, jumping spinning hook kick, jumping spinning roundhouse kick, butterfly kick or "shuffle jump kick," jumping (or counter) back kick, and jump spinning side kick.Advanced Kicks : There are a variety of kicks that can be used in combination or stem out from a simple kick to create more difficult ones. Some of these include 540 Kick (One spins 1 1/2 times in mid-air and does a kick, usually a back spinning hook kick) and Triple Aero Kicks (One does round house kick, back spinning hook kick, and another round house kick in mid-air).Fast Kicks: Also, many kicks can be employed using a fast kick style. The practitioner shuffles the back leg forward to the front leg, and the front leg comes up and kicks closer to the enemy than the practitioner had been before execution. This can be used with side kick, roundhouse kick, front kick, hook kick, and axe kick. They are called Fast "insert kick name".
The splits improve your flexibility, allowing you to deliver short-ranged high kicks. It also helps you kick two enemies simultaneously. However, the most important aspect of gaining flexibility through stretching in the splits is not to kick high, but to extend your reach horizontally at the body level, or to the groin and knee. Also, being able execute head level kicks in practice, makes body level kicks in combat flow with ease, and less restriction on the muscles, therefore allowing them to be faster, and more powerful. Being able to do the splits means you are very flexible. This is important to avoid injuring yourself when executing even low level kicks. Self-defense means taking care of yourself, not causing yourself injury when trying to defend yourself.
