In order for a bike to start it must have 3 things, AIR The easiest is checking to make sure the air filter is clean and that there are no obstructions between airbox and carb. FUEL Dump the old gas and premix a gallon of fresh gas. Next pull your fuel line off of carb and turn petcock on to ensure you have gas going into the carb. It wouldn't hurt to pull the carb off and give it a good cleaning at this point. Be sure to pull your main and idle jets out and clean them and make sure you can blow through them before reassembling. SPARK Check the spark at the plug. If there is no spark, check your plug cap (cheap fix) first, if that is not it go on to your stator.
A bad TPS might cause the engine to not fire up during cranking. But not crank? Nope.
That year did not use a crank sensor. If the engine won't fire at the plugs then the most COMMON problem would be the ignition module in the distributor has gone bad.
Yes. The crank sensor tells the coil when to fire.
If you don't have fire at the plug, change the crank sensor first, then the coil.
The problem is possibly your crank seals. When the motor is cold it runs ok but as it comes to normal temp it craps out , more than likely its your crank seals, perhaps base gasket.
There was little fire organized fire protection. Therefore, it might take longer than expected to putout a fire.
if the crank sensor is bad it does not tell the computer that the crank is turning it will not fire up the engine.
crank sensor
blown fuse bad computer faulty cam or crank sensor weak spark electric wiring problem
I would take ignition module off and have it check at one of the autoparts stores if good i would replace crank sensor .
If you have plenty of crank, but, no, fire, then your problem is in the fuel system. Check your fuel pump by disconnecting the lower fuel line on the filter and then try starting the car. If no fuel comes out of the line, you have found your problem! Bad fuel pump!
There are a few things that could cause this problem. It could be the wiring to the alternator, the alternator solenoid, or the wiring.?æ
