its either the starter or your ignition
Defective ignition switch.
Gauge Cluster Board Bad
That means you ignition is lock but its not a BIG problem. Just unlock it.
I am not sure what causes this, but I have had times when my ignition key would not turn. The solution to the main problem is to turn the steering wheel slightly. This usually allows the ignition key to turn.
it is an ignition problem...could be the ignition switch or the ignition coil if i rember right
The ignition on a Chevrolet Cobalt will not turn with the key if it is does not correct align inside. This will block the cylinder from turning and prevent starting.
Could be the starter or ignition switch...does the car crank/turn over when you turn the key? If you just turn the key and it 'clicks' it might be the ignition switch. I've had this problem before, and it ended up being the alternator. HOpe this helps!
Perform the following steps in order. 1. Turn on ignition without starting and wait 7 secs then turn to acc position and wait 4 secs. 2. Turn on ignition without starting and wait 7 secs then turn to acc position and wait 4 secs. 3. Turn on ignition without starting and wait 7 secs then turn to acc position and wait 4 secs. 4.Turn on ignition without starting and wait 7 secs then turn to acc position and wait 3 secs. 5. Turn on ignition without starting and wait 7 secs then turn to acc position and wait 2 secs. 6. Start car and wait 3 secs then turn off wait 3 secs and start car. Took me 2 tries as I was not getting the timing right...but it worked.
I have 2008 and had same problem the ignition had to be replaced was really fast less than an hour they did it.
You could have a problem will the battery or something with the ignition. Try leaving the vehicle off for a bit and trying again later.
Sounds like a problem with the ignition switch.
