there is an intermediate wiper conrtoler . This is a small printed circuit inside the wiper motor unit. Threre are 2 small copper contact arms that run on a small disc sencor to raed ihe intrval at wich the wipers are working at. The contact tip is worn off and must be replaced circuit and all. Around 65.00 Can.

i have a 2001 Chevy lumina and i am wondering if the ECM is going out, sometimes it will die when i am driving but starts right back up, sometimes it will die and not start up after several hours of sitting, then it starts up. Could this be the ECM?
The linkage for the wipers could have slipped. If the linkage is not aligned right, then the wipers will not stop at the right spot.
